Save recipes from TikTok

A saved TikTok is a video you have to scrub through again. Foodie turns it into a recipe you can cook from: ingredients in one list, steps in order, the creator credited.

How it works

How to save a TikTok recipe in Foodie

  1. 01

    Share the video

In TikTok, tap Share. Pick Foodie in the share sheet, or tap Copy link.

  2. 02

    Tap Import Recipe

If you shared to Foodie, the link is already filled in. If you copied it, open Foodie, tap Import Recipe and paste it on the URL tab.

  3. 03

    Check and cook

Foodie writes out the ingredients and steps, keeps the cover image and the creator's handle, and links back to the video. Scale it, switch units, or send the ingredients to your grocery list.

Good to know

What Foodie reads

Foodie reads the video's caption, not the sound. Most TikTok food creators write the recipe in the caption, and that is what Foodie turns into ingredients and steps.

The recipe is in the comments

Copy the creator's comment, open Import Recipe and paste it on the Text tab. Foodie formats it the same way.

The recipe is only spoken or on screen

Take a screenshot of the frame that shows the ingredients and use the Image tab. For a recipe that is only spoken, write it down and paste it on the Text tab.

The caption has no recipe at all

Foodie then drafts a recipe from the name of the dish. It is a starting point, not the creator's recipe, so check it against the video before you cook.

TikTok recipes: questions

Can I save a TikTok recipe without the video?

Yes. Foodie saves the recipe as text: an ingredient list and numbered steps, with the cover image and a link back to the TikTok if you want to watch it again.

Does Foodie credit the TikTok creator?

Yes. The creator's handle is saved as the author of the recipe, and the recipe keeps the link to the original video.

What if the TikTok is deleted later?

Your copy stays. Foodie stores the recipe and its image itself, so it does not depend on the video staying online.

Is saving TikTok recipes free?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 recipe imports every 7 days. Foodie Premium removes the limit.
