Use Foodie in ChatGPT and Claude

Foodie now has an MCP server. Connect it to your own ChatGPT or Claude, and your AI can use your Foodie recipes, your weekly meal plan and your family shopping list. Your own AI does the thinking. Foodie does not charge for that.

The Foodie shopping list, shared with the whole family
Start here

The Foodie server URL

You paste this one URL into your AI app. You sign in with Apple. That is all.

https://foodieapi.chewable.fit/mcp

Before you start

  • Install Foodie and sign in once in the app. Accounts are made in the app only.
  • Use the same Apple ID later when your AI app asks you to sign in.
Claude

Connect Foodie to Claude

  1. 01

    Open Connectors

Go to claude.ai and open Settings, then Connectors.

  2. 02

    Add a custom connector

Choose Add custom connector. Type the name Foodie. Paste the server URL.

  3. 03

    Connect and sign in

Choose Connect. Tap Continue with Apple and use the same Apple ID as the Foodie app.

After you add it, the connector works on the web, on desktop and in the Claude mobile app. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.

ChatGPT

Connect Foodie to ChatGPT

  1. 01

    Turn on developer mode

In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Security and login. Turn on Developer mode.

  2. 02

Create an app for a remote MCP server

Open ChatGPT Plugins. Choose the plus button to create a developer-mode app for a remote MCP server. Name it Foodie and paste the server URL.

  3. 03

Choose OAuth if it asks. Tap Continue with Apple and use the same Apple ID as the Foodie app.

Custom connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus or higher) and developer mode. OpenAI changes these menus often. If a name is different, look for the closest match.

Other apps

Any MCP client

Foodie works in any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth. Add the server URL as an HTTP server and sign in with Apple when the client asks.

For Claude Code, run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http foodie https://foodieapi.chewable.fit/mcp

ChatGPT and Claude: questions

What is the Foodie MCP server?

It is a connection that lets your own ChatGPT or Claude use your Foodie recipes, weekly meal plan and shopping list. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI apps to other apps.

Do I pay extra to use Foodie in ChatGPT or Claude?

Foodie does not charge for the AI. Your own AI app does the thinking, under your own plan with OpenAI or Anthropic. Free Foodie accounts get 50 MCP calls per day. Foodie Premium has no daily limit.

Why can't I sign in?

Sign in to the Foodie app once first. Accounts are created in the app only. Then use Continue with Apple with the same Apple ID in your AI app.

Does it work with the free ChatGPT plan?

No. Custom connectors in ChatGPT need a paid plan (Plus or higher) and developer mode. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.

Can my family see the changes?

Yes. Changes appear in the Foodie app at once, for everyone in your household.

How do I disconnect an AI app?

In the Foodie app, open Settings, then ChatGPT & Claude. Tap Disconnect next to the app. It takes effect at once.

Does Foodie send my data to OpenAI or Anthropic?

Not on its own. Foodie shares data with an AI app only after you sign in and approve it. After that, the AI app handles the data under its own provider's privacy terms.
